Printcop: next generation printer accounting!
NEWS: Printcop 3.0 is coming February 2004!
Based on the Common Unix Printing System
Able to direct to a printer based on job content
Pay by the page printed (after small startup cost) or buy the system outright
Printcop is a turnkey system giving an administrator
- The ability to password-protect access to any PCL (HP) or Postscript
printer
- The ability to bill any Windows, Macintosh (OS X), Unix, Linux, or
Solaris user per page for pages printed
- Optionally to allow Windows user (others coming soon) to add
a per-print-job job number or case number
Printcop is also
- Easy to administer; most systems functions are accessible via password-protected
web interface
- Scalable: based on Linux (or FreeBSD or Solaris), which can work on systems sized from departmental
server to mainframe
- Flexible: open architecture allows easy back-end interface to any
database or accounting system.
Complete customization to fit your business is available!
Potential applications of Printcop
- Real estate brokers can use Printcop to recover the cost of
a high-speed color network printer provided for agent use.
- Attorneys and advertising agencies can use Printcop
to easily keep track of print jobs for clients, with much greater accuracy
than by using Equitrac.
- Schools and universities can control student printer use and
recoup printer costs with Printcop.
Purchase Options
- The previously available version has been made a historical curiosity by CUPS, but is still available for any reason you want
it. Contact us for details.
- You can buy a traditionally-licensed system from us, including 1 year
of unlimited technical support, with yearly renewals (pricing to be announced shortly).
- We also offer pay-by-the-page pricing and support, where you pay only
for the pages you print (after a small startup cost), and we also keep
a backup copy on our secure servers of your printer accounting information.
With this option we also offer replacement hardware at nominal cost after
the warranty period.
Support & Consulting Services
Support is available via Email and telephone (see below). We also run a
technical mailing list.
And we've
learned lot about controlling
and accounting for network printing in the course of this project and would
be happy to help you with any challenges you have in these areas.
